In order to reduce the environmental damage caused by diapers, some people in the industry have continuously developed biodegradable SAP materials, corn fiber diapers and other related technologies for the degradation of diapers.

Using chitosan extracted from seafood waste, citric acid and urea, a research team at the Indian Institute of technology has developed a new biodegradable SAP material. It is reported that in the process of synthesis, this new SAP needs water and no chemicals. It can be used in the production of sanitary products such as diapers.
