Introduction: Baby diapers can be considered as special garments with liquid absorption and control functions. The absorption zone mainly consists of the surface coating (surface layer, infusion layer), the absorbent core layer and the bottom membrane. The original consumer demand for baby diapers is to be able to absorb and store urine quickly, i.e. with good liquid water absorption and reverse osmosis, which mainly depends on the liquid water absorption and control ability of the core layer.

Surface coating material

baby diaper The surface coating material is in direct contact with human skin, and its feel affects people's direct feeling when buying and wearing. Frictional irritation (skin-skin, skin-baby diaper) can be an important trigger for diaper rash. Increased skin moisture can also increase damage from friction. Therefore, the surface coating material needs to be soft and breathable. In addition, the surface coating is the first link to realize its function, and it is the beginning of the whole imbibition process. Functionally, moisture is unidirectionally transferred to the absorbent core layer, emphasizing water conductivity, quick-drying, and impermeability. Currently commonly used materials mainly include hot air bonded nonwovens, polyolefin (ES) or polypropylene (PP) staple fiber hot rolled nonwovens, PP spunbond nonwovens, spunlace nonwovens, polyethylene (PE) /PP(EP) bicomponent nonwovens and spunbond+meltblown+spunbond (SMS) nonwovens. The structural treatment of the surface coating, such as concave-convex treatment, perforated film, etc., makes the concave points of the surface material directly contact with the absorbent core or changes the contact area with the skin, which can accelerate the liquid conduction, reduce the penetration, and keep the skin dry. One of the most commonly used processing methods. The finishing of the surface layer material and the development of new functional fibers have also made positive contributions to improving its hydrophilicity, breathability and antibacterial properties.

Bottom film

Diaper backsheets are used to prevent urine leakage and to insulate. Its main functional requirements are good breathability, water resistance and tensile tear resistance. The bottom film is mainly composed of PP breathable microporous film or hot-rolled non-woven material PE composite bottom film material. The existing research is mainly to improve the breathability, elasticity and softness of the bottom film material by optimizing the material and processing technology.

Design principle

In addition, in order to prevent the leakage of urine from the side, the baby diaper needs to better fit the human body and have certain tightening functions, such as the design of three-dimensional enclosure and leak-proof side. However, baby diaper will increase the pressure on the body when it is tight and may cause hidden dangers such as blood blockage. At the same time, stress discomfort can exacerbate contact irritation. Suitability also affects the heat and moisture transfer process by changing the ventilation performance of the openings and changing the size and distribution of the microenvironment under the clothing. The relatively closed internal environment between baby diapers and the human body hinders the transfer of water, but also reduces the ability of heat transfer to the outside world. cause human disease.
