Potential dangers of sanitary napkins

# Sanitary Napkins

Sanitary napkins are a widely used menstrual product in developed regions, but they are the most frequently used object in women's daily lives. So, what are the potential risks?

1.Personal hygiene risks

Introducing SAP on the market to improve absorbency, they are made of a perforated topsheet based on polypropylene (PP) and a high pressure polyethylene sheet as a natural barrier. This improves its action. This commodity looks harmless, but is likely to contain dioxins, petrochemicals, GMOs (genetically modified organisms) and spices. When this compound comes into contact with sensitive skin, skin tissue is likely to be irritated. Dioxins are carcinogens in nature, so even at a very low level of understanding, the risk of malignancy increases. Additives such as spices, deodorants, adsorbents, urea solutions and indoor formaldehyde can improve properties but can cause skin irritation and skin reactions.

2.Disposability

The macromolecular compounds in sanitary napkin are raw materials that cannot be degraded. This may cause many obvious problems.

When such underpads are flushed, they can clog the sewer line because the substance digests and absorbs all the water in the sewer line.

The used product is usually incinerated, which releases dioxins and furans, causing environmental damage.

3.Affordability

In developing countries, the price of this commodity is often daunting to most people. About 70% of Indian women still have no money to buy and use dirty fabrics. In a 2012 study by Cheryl Nakata and Kelly Weidner on the widespread application and integration of sanitary napkin into target consumer groups, it was found that work status, cultural education, family type and monthly household income all contribute to the popularity of the product. The factor behind the cost is that most of the raw materials used are imported from developed regions. This will ultimately increase the cost of goods.

There are still some difficulties with sanitary napkins that must be overcome, although there is greater convenience for women, the use of this product may also cause a variety of problems in the future, so we must pay more attention.
